About & AroundFamily Exploration Series for Children and Families at Fort Ticonderoga Fort Ticonderoga will offer Family Exploration Series for families in both the Fort and in the King's Garden every Monday and Thursday at 10:00 am through August 25, 2005 . July 18: Family Exploration Series – “Stories in the Garden,” Fort staff will read The Dandelion Seed and From Seed to Plan. Families will then create seed pictures and plant some seeds in the Children's Garden. 10:00 am . July 21: Family Exploration Series – “Eat Your Vegetables!” Visit the military garrison garden and learn what the French soldiers stationed at Fort Ticonderoga ate in the 18 th century. 10:00 am . July 25: Family Exploration Series – “Stories in the Garden,” Fort staff will read Growing Vegetable Soup and Allison's Zinnia. Families will then take part in an alphabet scavenger hunt in the King's Garden. 10:00 am . July 28: Family Exploration Series – “We Hold These Truths!” It's the 229 th anniversary of when the Declaration of Independence was first read to the troops at Fort Ticonderoga . Families will learn about the Declaration of Independence and what it meant to the soldiers. Then add your own signature to the Declaration. 10:00 am . Fort Ticonderoga is open daily 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from May 10 – October 23, 2005 . Fort Ticonderoga is a 2,000-acre educational historic site in New York , with land in Vermont . It is preserved and managed by the Fort Ticonderoga Association. Admission is $12/adults, $10.80/seniors, $6/children ages 7-12, and free for children under 7. Friends of Fort Ticonderoga and residents of Ticonderoga , Putnam, Hague, Silver Bay , Crown Point , New York and Orwell and Shoreham, Vermont receive free admission.
